The Strathmore Writing suite was introduced in 1920 as written correspondence
boomed. The 90gsm contained 25% cotton and was originally sourced from trimmings
reclaimed from textile mills along with government mailbags and used overalls.
That’s where the term 25% Rag came from, until it changed to the more prestigious
25% Cotton in the 1950s when most of the cotton came from the surplus material from
the fabric trade.
