Printing Suggestions
For offset printing, the use of UV inks is recommended; in the case of offset printing with traditional inks it is necessary to use oxidative inks or specific inks for plastic supports.
It is necessary to keep all the variables of the printing process under control, especially wetting, starting from the use of a buffered solution that allows obtaining a PH value between 4.8 and 5.5, and a conductivity value between 800 and 1200 ms . It is essential to maintain a good balance between wetting and inking, reducing wetting to a minimum to promote drying and anchoring of the ink. As a further aid, an in-line acrylic coating can be used, taking care to check its behaviour in the stack, while simultaneously using a minimum quantity of anti-waste. Since they are strictly dependent on the ink charges and compliance with the process variables, drying times may vary.
There are no particular problems for hot stamping, except attributable to occasional interactions between the darkest colours in the range and particular types of hot foil which in some cases can give rise to oxidation phenomena of the foil. It is possible to choose between different solutions to overcome this inconvenience, carrying out the appropriate feasibility tests:
- Full board acrylic primer for spreader
- UV primer from plate to reserve
- Double hot stamping pass, using a transparent film in the first pass.
It is advisable to carry out a check on the use of glues, favoring the use of polyurethane glues.
Good results are obtained with most important converting processes: cutting, creasing, die cutting, folding, glueing and lamination. For lamination, it is advisable to perform tests before carrying out the process.
Since it is a paper with a surface that is not perfectly smooth and is also available in the embossed version, in the case of lamination it is advisable to carry out tests before carrying out the work to check the good adhesion of the film to the paper support.
To guarantee optimal performance in the case of special processes and elaborate finishings, it is possible to request a sampling of myBohème Design to be used for print tests.
