Premier Paper Group, the UK’s largest independent paper merchant has a team of experienced professionals with extensive knowledge, whose role it is to advise customers on the best paper for their printing requirements

The merchant serves its customers through six distinctive specialist divisions, including the supply of cut-size papers to the public sector, office dealers and large corporations; as well as a specialist digital division offering the most comprehensive digital media in the UK.

Marketing Director David Jones says that it’s important to spend some time thinking about paper and its role in the printing process. “The quality of printed output is significantly influenced by the paper used. There are hundreds of different types and brands of paper available today and with considerations such as environmental accreditations, finish, weight, opacity and brightness, to consider; it’s not always a simple task.

“The media you use really depends on what output you want to achieve, for example a standard multipurpose paper is fine for normal office use but for presentations or customer communication, a heavier weight and higher whiteness might be more suitable,” says Jones.

Digital expertise
The adoption of digital scanning, copying and printing applications have led to a demand for new kinds of media, specifically designed for the special conditions of document imaging equipment. Premier offers a range of media, which includes paper and synthetic polymer based materials, specifically designed for different applications such as colour printing and for different technologies including laser and inkjet.

“As the technology behind these printers differs, it’s better to use materials that have been optimised to work best in that application, guaranteeing excellent print and production results,” says Jones.

Premier offers the largest range of digital media in the marketplace, supplies more than 1,500 digital product lines and has also recently launched a new range of papers to meet increased demand in the wide format print market.
The merchant is also an authorised Xerox reseller, Xerox has the largest portfolio of digital paper and products available under one brand and is synonymous with exacting quality for any volume of digital printing

“Premier is a true one-stop-shop for digital media. We can offer obscure or difficult to find lines and hold significant stocks across our 17-strong regionally-focussed branch network, meaning we are able to fulfil orders with very tight deadlines. We’ve found this speed of supply is essential to help our customers meet the just-in-time requirements of digital printing.”
